Philosophy as a way of life

The main goal of my courses is to teach introductory philosophy through the lens of some ancient school of philosophy, focusing whenever possible on the therapeutic elements of philosophy and the insights of eudaemonic ethicists. This means that I include various practices intended to “shape the self.”

For those that are interested, I will begin with a review of ancient and medieval philosophy, a basic introduction to philosophy, and a very non-traditional introduction to ethical theory—one which includes a survey of some recent findings in the mind sciences. In the future, I intend to include an introduction to symbolic logic, philosophy of religion, and political philosophy.
